this little thing that happened.

sometimes,
when things get busy,
life hands you a little curveball.
it may be a something wonderful and delightful,
but nonetheless,
surprising.
this is our amazing little curveball.
debuting in early august.
a little boy.

perfection.

 it's a boy!

red in the face

there is nothing that embarrasses me more
than after going potty
hearing my newly two-year old cheer
"HOORAY FOR MOMMY'S PEE PEES!
HOORAY FOR MOMMY'S SPOOFIES!"
as loud as can be...
in a PUBLIC restroom.

it happens every time.

a few not to forget.

a have been a slacker lately.
this blog is our baby book for ada, elias, and little hanna.
i don't fill out pages
or make scrap books.
this is it.
i print it once a year and tuck it away.

but you see,
a few months ago
precious hannie spilled a drink on my keyboard
and now several (MANY) keys don't work.
so when we have special moments to remember
i am too lazy to go through the work it takes to find the old
keyboard and plug it in
and actually type something.

we have been having a wonderful winter.
ada's new bathroom was finally completed this week.
no more worker will be in my house for a LONG time.
hooray.
our afternoon activities are at a minimum until february when we are action packed almost every day of the week.
i am thankful for the down time which has been filled with play dates and park time but will be happy to have some structure soon!

enjoy!

this kid has been so happy.  look at her, is she not so cute?  not to mention how helpful and loving she is.  i am one lucky mama.

 cousins and best friends.

hannie's birthday morning.  she was thrilled and totally understood it was her birthday, with her presents, and her cupcakes!

 duke gardens with auntie shannon.

ada's half-birthday.  she is very serious about half birthday celebrations.
and i almost forgot.

i hope her wish came true!
i am pretty sure it did!

a fickle winter

it has been a funny winter in these parts.
one day it is cold and rainy and the next it is 70 degrees and sunny the kids are begging for sprinkler time.
it keeps us on our toes.
but
our kids,
(especially our oldest)
LOVE winter.
the cold, cloudy days are great
but snow is the BEST.
so, after many weekends lately filled with trips to duke garden
and park picnics
we decided to head to the mountains for some real snow and even a little skiing.
the littles loved playing in the snow.  ada couldn't get enough of it.  she was rubbing it on her face and sprinkling it like fairy dust all over her hair.
why did we leave boston?
these kids love the cold!

 lunch break!
and lettting baba go on a few runs alone!

 frolicing in the snow!

poor hanna was sick with a fever all weekend.

 ski instructor pop.

 blowing rock.

her eyelashes can catch anything.  good thing her eyes are so protected!

sledding during our two-hour delay on friday.

a dusting of ice is the perfect surface for the disc.

hopefully we will get another snow day soon!

two.

two is such a big number for this little girl.
i can't believe two years have already passed by.
she started out on the wrong foot-
cried for six months straight.
maybe more.
and she has spent the past 18 months
making it up to us.

my hannie,
she is the silliest, most charismatic member of our family.
she is so loved.
she is an amazing
climber,
laugher,
jumper,
hugger,
sister,
daughter,
and
momma to all of her naked babies thrown around her bedroom.

she is mischievous
and tough.
she is more tomboy than girlie girl.
she dresses herself,
puts her own shoes on the wrong feet every time
and will never change them.
because she is also stubborn.
she has a crazy mop of hair that has suddenly appeared on her head
and cannot be tamed- much like herself.
she is a charmer.
and a social butterfly.
and she has stolen all of our hearts.
she asks to "tiss" everyone before she goes to sleep at night
and asks where everyone is as soon as she wakes up.
she has so much love to share,
she does not hide it.

she is pure joy (when she isn't secretly pooping in a closet or destroying some part of the house).

my hanna,
i love you more that you will ever know.
happy second birthday,
love,
mommy
