because they're cute.

sometimes we go fishing in the little pond behind our house.  we mostly just lure the turtles to shore with our spiderman fishing pole.  elias is the best at it.

sometimes hanna gets in on the action.  she is almost as good as reza.

but on this day, uncle kareem surprised us with a visit AND he brought his fly rod which was all too exciting for some of us!

these two are becoming buddies since ada is now in school all the time.

she is quite cute with her black eyes and rolly arms.

there aren't many pictures of this one lately.  she is gone all day.  i am having ada withdrawal.

and he is morphing before my eyes.  fisherman, frog, dragon, superman, batman, buzz lightyear.
you never know who is at our house.

oh, and this one.  i wish i could claim him.  isn't he just tooooooo cute?

luckily we get to see him quite often.

and miss hanna can seem to sit down.  ever.  always up and at 'em.

batman!  we spent a whole day transforming his old tricycle into a batmobile.  three cans of spray paint and we were good to go!

bye bye!

see ya!

wait, did i do that?

adventures in life

i am not winning mommy of the year right now.  just in case you were wondering.  i am worn out.  more miss hannigan than supernanny.  i actually need a supernanny, but i won't hold my breath.  i need an alone day.  i don't want my children watching me shower and  i want to eat the entire cookie. by. my. self.

ok- i said it.  please don't think i am a bad person.  i mean, everyone has their moments, right?

this is what we have been up to.

- ada was home sick today after being up in the middle of the night for two hours with a fever of 102 degrees.  she was tired and cranky.  yuck.

- hanna has a cold and some sort of stomach bug leading to diarrhea leading to diaper rash.  poor kid.

- last night we had a babysitter to go on a date.  we envisioned it being just the two of us, hanna is finally getting old enough that i feel comfortable leaving her!  then, as we were telling the kids, ada asks if she could go.  she loves restaurants, and hanna usually gets to go so she wants it to be her turn.  we couldn't say no.  hanna cried the entire time for the poor sitter and ada sang to us the entire date, songs that only she could make up (not real songs that have rhythm and harmony.)  so much for a romantic evening.

- elias is finally doing better in his big boy bed.  after my genius post about how wonderful he has been, he got out of bed every night for a week and was imprisoned in his crib until he decided to stay in bed.  i still find him wandering the house at 3am, but it is getting better.

- ada is loving school, but told me saturday (after being in time out throwing a tantrum for an hour!) that she was using up all of her good behavior at school and just HAS to be grumpy at home now.  great.

-  elias is becoming very talented at spraying his pee very far distances.  double great.

-  the same kid also is entertaining us all day and night with bizarre made up stories about things going on in his life.   i really think he thinks his dreams are "real-life", i don't really remember going on an airplane with him to outer space last night to fight the "green guy" with our spraying fire.  just saying.

-  little miss hanna is still not crawling.  now that she has mastered standing, i see her determination to walk.  soon.  as soon as i sit her anywhere she finds something to pull herself up on.  especially in the bathtub.  i don't think she has sat down for more than two minutes straight in the past week.

- and if you really want to know what is bugging me!  my son will not keep his fingers out of his bottom, i have cleaned the kitchen floor about 6 times today, ada cannot stop whining, and if i move more than 7 inches away from miss hanna she has a total meltdown.  i may rot into the floor or get pink eye this week.  what is your guess?

my very own green frog.

it happened.  my little boy had his first day of preschool!  it was a no brainer, he has been waiting for this day for some time.  i was a little sentimental, i told him what would happen as i dropped him off and mentioned that some little kids might cry.
he replied
"i won't cry mama.  you just put a bandaid in my pocket so if someone pokes me in my eye i can just put a bandaid on it and not cry."
tough.
that is what this kid is.

he walked right into the classroom and went potty, washed his hands, and asked me to leave.
without saying please.
but i did it anyways (after some big kisses)

then they had a series of tornado warnings the entire time he was there.
and he still thought it was a blast.

and when i picked him up he ran to me and smothered me with smooches in front of everyone.
a perfect first day.
(for both of us!)

seven, it's a magic number.

seven years ago we said "i do" on a barren beach in canada with all of friends and family members there to cheer us on.  we had a wonderful little party in a boathouse over the water and then slipped away to the closest "hotel" in the area.  it was a good night.  i married my best friend.

i love you reza, for the partner you are.  for the father you have become.  thank you so much for tolerating me, and still loving me!  you are incredible.  here's to seven years!

impressive huh?

eight months.

woo hoo!  can we eat cupcakes today?  this little girl is officially eight months!  she is nearly crawling, she can scoot backyards and twirl in circles, but can't quite figure out how to go forward.  she is still little and toothless and fits perfectly on my hip all day long.

happy 8 months hanna tait!  we can't wait to see what next month has in store!
