perfect picnics.

perfect weather = perfect days for picnics. no worrying about vacuuming up crumbs after meals, and getting some vitamin d while we are at it. elias was sick for a couple weeks and now is finally better. this means, nonstop eating. you have never seen a kid put down as much food as this little boy. he could be in a circus show, really! it is very impressive.

this is what elias looked like after his cookie was gone. so sad. especially since ada saved hers until her healthy food was done, then savored every morsel of her newman's own. elias still doesn't understand that he can only have one a day.

a lovely love day

we had an absolutely wonderful valentine's day yesterday. reza and i desperately wanted to have a romantic date night, but since we did not have a babysitter, we had a lovely day with the kids! what could be better than spending valentine's day at your first mardi gras parade in louisiana! we collected about 400 bead necklaces among a gazillion other things (such as a my little pony, a plastic sword, candy, stuffed toys, hacky sacks, and even a cold hotdog- which reza ATE!) so entertaining and so much fun!

the beginning had me a little worried.

and then i got even more worried as the dixie soldiers came by...

but soon reza got his hotdog and i new things were going to get better! (six beers will encourage you to eat a cold hotdog thrown from a random man on a big float.)

a snowy day!

snow in louisiana is perfect. it is beautiful, perfect for making snowballs, and best of all, melts by the end of the day. what a wonderful surprise to wake up to snowflakes thursday morning, and a fresh blanket of snow friday!

the snow had just started. we ran outside to catch some snowflakes for breakfast before heading off to school for the valentine's party!

i'm plum out of blog posts. not too much going on here i guess. reza is away at a job interview. elias is sick with double ear infections, a cold, and a hacking, persistent cough. ada is fuller than ever of sass and whining. the sound of it is like fingernails on a blackboard. oh, and have i mentioned that in rains a lot in louisiana?

today elias went to the doctor. he cried the entire time. he has that place figured out. upon leaving, ada found a lollipop in the car that must have fallen out of a goody bag from saturday's birthday party. yummy! the kind with bubble gum in the center. first time ever. i told her she could eat it and she promptly unwrapped it and popped it into her mouth. screams! it was elias, screaming with jealousy over the lollipop. never mind the fact that he was the one who just received a shot of antibiotics in the thigh (they did give him a transformer sticker on his shirt-seriously transformers for the 15 month old!) luckily, i needed gas-- and a break for my own sanity. i turned sharply in the gas station two doors down. i got out, shut the doors and enjoyed the silence as i pumped. when i got back in the car the crying had ceased. then i heard ada "one lick for you, one lick for me. one lick for you, one lick for me. one lick for you, one lick for me." 30 minutes. all the way to the bubble gum. made my day, wouldn't it yours?

maybe it is not such a good day for pictures.

the little tikes were looking especially cute this morning. so cute that i thought i would take pictures of them. until i discovered that social services might show up at my door if they actually saw both of my children right now. bruises, bruises, everywhere!

not much is new here on linden st. the sun was shining, now it is not. we were really enjoying the gorgeous weather. please come back!
